The Scrabble Word Finder shows base tile scores. The real game is about bonus squares. A 5-letter word worth 8 points on a triple-word square scores 24. A 3-letter word worth 6 points that opens a triple-word square for your opponent can cost you more than it gains.

The most important strategic rule: never open a triple-word square for your opponent. If a play would leave the TW square reachable on the next turn, choose a different play even if it scores fewer points.

Block common hook letters. Certain letters create powerful plays when added to existing words. The letter S can extend almost any word. Q words without U — QI, QAT, QOPH — are worth memorizing. They score high and your opponents rarely block them.

The Scrabble Word Finder supports all three major word game dictionaries. TWL (Tournament Word List) is the official dictionary for North American Scrabble tournaments and contains approximately 190,000 words. SOWPODS is the international tournament dictionary with approximately 276,000 words. WWF (Words With Friends) is the Zynga digital game dictionary with approximately 173,000 words. Select your dictionary before entering tiles using the toggle above the results. Words valid in SOWPODS may not be valid in TWL, so always match your dictionary to your game.

Enter a question mark (?) in your tile rack to represent a blank tile. The tool calculates the blank as worth 0 points and finds all valid words that could be formed using any letter in the blank position. Results show the blank tile contribution in a different color. If you have 2 blanks, enter 2 question marks. Blanks dramatically expand your rack options — a blank tile in a 7-letter rack can unlock 50 to 200 additional valid words.

Yes. If there is already a letter on the board you want to play through, include that letter in your tile input along with your rack tiles. The tool will find words containing that letter the same way it handles any tile. Results will include words where that letter appears in any position, so you may need to filter by length to find words that work for your specific board position.

The highest-scoring word for your rack is highlighted in gold. This is the best possible play based on base tile values alone, without accounting for board bonus squares. The actual score of any play depends heavily on where you place it. A 12-point word on a triple-word square scores 36. Always check the board for triple-word and double-word squares before playing the highest-point word.

Yes. When you enter all 7 tiles and the tool finds a word using all of them, that word is a bingo. In Scrabble, playing all 7 tiles in one turn earns a 50-point bonus. Bingos are highlighted separately in the results. For bingos to be usable on the board, they must connect to at least one existing tile, so a bingo on a fresh rack is only playable if you can hook it to the board.
