About Word Game Tools

Word Game Tools is a free utility site built for word game players. We cover 7 games in one place: Wordle, NYT Spelling Bee, Connections, Scrabble, Words With Friends, general word unscrambling, and anagram solving.

Every tool runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent to our servers. No login. No email address. No paywall.

Who Builds This Site

Word Game Tools is built and operated by Daniel Terry, an Army veteran and small business owner based in East Wenatchee, Washington. The site is published by GSD Local Marketing.

This site was created because word game players deserve a clean, fast tool that does not bury the answer behind three popups and a newsletter signup. We built the tool we wanted to use ourselves.

Our Word Database

We use the ENABLE word list as our primary dictionary. ENABLE is a public-domain set of 172,823 standard English words. It is the same base list used by Words With Friends and most major word games.

For Wordle tools, we add the Wordle answer list of 2,309 common 5-letter words. These are tagged separately so you can see which words have appeared as Wordle answers.

For Scrabble, we support all three major tournament dictionaries:

  • TWL (Tournament Word List) — approximately 190,000 words. Used in North American Scrabble tournaments.
  • SOWPODS — approximately 276,000 words. Used in international Scrabble tournaments.
  • WWF (Words With Friends) — approximately 173,000 words. Used in the Zynga digital game.

We verify word data annually. The current database was last updated in January 2026.

Anagram Solver — Find every word that uses exactly the letters you enter. Switch between exact anagrams and sub-anagrams. Works on words, names, and short phrases.

5-Letter Word Browser — Browse all 8,938 five-letter words in the ENABLE list. Filter by starting letter or ending letter. Wordle answer words are marked with a frequency indicator.

Browse Pages

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Word Game Tools free to use?

Word Game Tools is completely free. All 7 tools — Wordle Helper, Word Unscrambler, Spelling Bee Helper, Connections Helper, Scrabble Word Finder, Anagram Solver, and 5-Letter Word browser — require no account, no email address, and no payment. The site earns revenue from display advertisements shown alongside tools. No ads appear inside the tool interfaces themselves.

Who is behind Word Game Tools?

Word Game Tools is built and operated by Daniel Terry, an Army veteran and small business owner based in East Wenatchee, Washington. The site is published by GSD Local Marketing. The word database uses the public-domain ENABLE word list of 172,823 words, updated annually.

How accurate is the word list?

The ENABLE word list is one of the most widely used public-domain English dictionaries. It contains 172,823 words and is the same base used by Words With Friends. Because different games use different official word lists, a word valid in our tool may not be valid in the specific game you are playing. For Scrabble tournament play, always verify against the official TWL or SOWPODS dictionary. For Wordle, the NYT uses its own curated answer list that may differ from the ENABLE list.
