How to Use the Browse Pages

The browse index is organized into 5 categories, and each category covers all 26 letters, for a total of 130 word list pages. Work through it in this order and you will get to the right list in one or two clicks.

  1. Decide which position you know. A known first letter sends you to a starting with page, and a known last letter sends you to an ending with page.
  2. Decide whether word length matters. Wordle and Quordle need exactly five letters, Spelling Bee rewards longer words, and Scrabble uses every length from 2 up.
  3. Click the letter tile in the matching grid below. The page loads instantly because the entire dictionary is bundled with the site and nothing is fetched from a server.
  4. Read the highlighted words first. Wordle answer words are marked so you can skip the thousands of valid guesses that will never be the daily answer.
  5. Move to a solver when you have more than one clue. The letter pages handle a single constraint, and the Wordle Helper, Word Unscrambler, and Scrabble Word Finder combine several at once.

Letter Frequency Facts

Not all letters appear equally in English words. The 5 most common starting letters by word count in the ENABLE list are S with about 12,100 words, then A, C, P, and T. The least common starting letters are X with about 310 words, Q with about 380, and Z with about 540. That gap matters when you plan a search. Knowing that a word starts with X cuts the dictionary to a page you can read in a minute, while knowing it starts with S barely narrows anything and you will need a second clue.

Ending letters behave differently because English suffixes dominate the final position. E, S, D, and N close more words than every other letter combined, driven by plurals, past tense forms, and the silent E. Q, J, and V almost never end a word, so those pages are short curiosities rather than working lists.

For 5-letter Wordle words specifically, the most common starting letters are S, C, B, and T, and about 16 percent of all Wordle answers begin with S. The rarest Wordle starters are X, Q, and Z, each appearing in fewer than 15 answer list words.

Choosing the Right Page for Your Game
